Goldcrest, forty years a birder, birthday

Goldcrest, forty years a birder, birthday (Regulus regulus)

Having started birding in 1979, this year is a minor personal landmark. Today is also my 70th birthday (hmm! mixed feelings about that). To celebrate, my brother's visiting and we might go out for some birding (as most of you know, limited mobility usually keeps me at home).

Here's another shot of Wednesday's Goldcrest.

Catch up with you this evening. As ever, thanks for your comments on my pictures, and good birding!

Happy Birthday John, and a fantastic photo to celebrate the day.
I'm not sure I can put a year on when I started ... I was hanging up peanut feeders for the siskins in the late 70's, and largely inspired by my elderly (hah, i'm older now than he was then) next door neighbour.

A brilliant shot of a goldcrest to celebrate all your birding years, John. All my best wishes on your seventieth birthday. Have a great day!

triple congratulations, John, for your 70th birthday, for your 40th birding birthday and for this marvelous photo of this little cutie!!!
I started birding in my parent's garden, about 47 years ago (and I "celebrated" my 63rd anniversary two weeks ago). I still remember the dunnocks and willow tits as being the first birds I identified as not being sparrows.
Looking forward to many more of your wonderful photos and highly appreciated comments, JJ

Have a Very Happy
Birthday, mate, and
thanks for all the ace
photos. I feel sure that,
like a fine wine, you've
only improved with the
years.
