Green woodpecker
Clive Watson

Green woodpecker (Picus viridis)

I got a bit of luck with this one - it flew in to chase off a Ring-necked parakeet and stayed long enough to get some decent shots. Particularly memorable since I was supposed to be in a strip club at the time.
Habitat
Open woodland
Location
Bushy Park, Middlesex
Date taken
29/4/06
Scientific name
Picus viridis
Equipment used
Canon 20D, 600mm f4
Most blokes would have been Clive, but having been chasing around for a picture of a Greeny for some time, I recon you made the right choice:-O Great image mate :t: Mick

i wont ask about the strip club....lol, but this shot makes up for not being there. nicely sharp and classic pose. well done.

A nice sharp photo of the Green woodpecker a difficult bird to catch good images of. Last time I was in the UK I just saw fleeting glimpses of them.
Rookery.

I reckon you were at the right place (the strip club was not, of course, :-O) at the right time! ;) Excellent job, Clive, very beautiful pic of this lady-Woody!!! :t:  :loveme:

I'd happily pay 20 for a bird like this to pose for me ;) Almost worth missing the acts for! :t:
