House Finch.jpg (Haemorhous Mexicanus)

Shot in morning shade. Looks to be an immature male. The most interesting thing for me is that when I started bird watching I knew these by the scientific name "Carpodacus Mexicanus". I have referred to them as such since then without a second thought. But apparently 2012 came and went and I missed that Purple, Cassin's, and House Finches were shifted away from the old world Carpodacus genus and into the Haemorhous genus. Like I said, interesting for me, probably not the rest of my bird watching friends who actually pay attention to such things. LOL
