Ring Ouzel
It's been rainy today, with very poor light. This morning I decided to look at the back of the block, which I don't do as often as I should, in case there was a Grey Wagtail. No wagtail, but I was stunned to see this bird. Looking through the viewfinder I kept saying "aberrant Blackbird" to myself. But looking at the pics on the back panel and laptop, there was no doubt.

Over 35 years I've been surprised to see various species here, a small estate of flats in south London, but this one tops them all. It should be with the other passage Ring Ouzels right down at the south coast, but seems to have liked the look of our rough lawn and dropped in to rest and refuel. ISO 1600, 1/50th sec at f/5.6

Thank you for your kind comments on my pictures, and good birding!

wonderful photo of this splendid bird, John!!! definitely 100 % ring ouzel, superb to see them around your place, top class, many tfs!!!

Actually, I still remember my first ring ouzel, many years ago in Belgium, where it is obviously not very common. It was at university, I was looking through the window and there he was. Don't remember anything anymore from what the prof was telling but still remember as it was yesterday that ring ouzel!

Gosh, what a lovely find, John. I bet you were surprised. A very well detailed study of your visitor.
