Rose-ringed Parakeet (female) (Psittacula krameri)

If this looks familiar, I already posted a shot of it with the wings flat. It will be the last shot of this individual I'll post :)

I don't know if the bright colour makes this species more obvious to Peregrines, but their loud calls do announce their presence. The falcon does take these birds.

marvelous capture of this green beauty, John, I can easily imagine they are obvious targets for the peregrines; superb photo, many tfs!!
PS: Concerning the great spotted cuckoos, they are present in small numbers around the Mediterranean in southern France. I once saw one in the Grenoble area, i.e. about 200 - 250 km north of their normal breeding range. I didn't realise they occasionally reach the UK, excellent that you saw one there in the past.

Marvelous close-up aerial of this lovely female. Excellent stop-action, focus, dof, colors, lighting, and setting. Superb work John! TFS!
