The wryneck and the wheatear

I scooted down to Spurn on the offchance of seeing one of the reported wrynecks.
This chap was feeding at about 10 metres when this wheatear flew in they didn't see eye to eye but the wryneck stood his ground and the wheatear backed off.

Interesting size comparison - have not seen a wryneck and thought they were nearly the size of a green woody. Congratulations on capturing them together Martin!

I'd love to see one of these birds; I only recently discovered just how small they are. Congrats on getting the shot, Martin :t:

WOW! :eek!: A "one-in-a-million" capture, Martin, not only your Wryneck looks great but the pic is unrepeatable!!! :t: :t: :loveme:

A really terrific capture! It's interesting to see how similar these two are in colouring.
The first and only time I saw Wrynecks I was stumped at first as I was also under the impression they were much larger.

What luck! And helpful (to me) to see the size of a wryneck - I'd assumed them to be bigger than this.

Cheers :t:
