"Waiting for the light..." (Amazonian Motmot) (Momotus momota)

When I arrived at my favorite motmot spot sunday morning, this wonderful fella was sitting there, in total shade of the forest, as they usually do.

I sat and waited. As the morning progressed, the sun light came from the side and started to hit some of those branches, and you get these "half and half" light/shade effects.

Something about this photo with this light... it became one of my favorite that I've ever taken.

To me it shows how a colorful and reasonably large bird of the neotropics can be sitting in the open and one could walk by it and never notice it. I know I have done that with many neotropical beauties. I see why you like this picture so much. TFS Roynato!
