Dallas, Texas Shorebird (1 Viewer)

It seems like the few birds I think this shorebird might be are not shown in this part of the state in my field guide.

Also, the last picture is not really discernible, however, I thought maybe he looked like a swamp sparrow? Any ideas? I figures that picture is not identifiable.

Agree with Falcon. An obvious Greater Yellowlegs and Lincoln's Sparrow. You can even see the yellow legs in the second two photos. The fine dark streaking, buffy eyering, and buffy flanks clinch the sparrow ID. The crested appearance of the latter is typical.

You guys are good!

Now that you point that out, I am looking at Lincoln's Sparrow pictures and it is pretty obvious.

The Yellowlegs I should have gotten, but all the shore birds are really confusing to me.

I was thinking Willit or short billed dowitcher looked close, but knew that was not right. The yellow legs were a giveaway!

The female was with the male

FYI. I was explaining in some detail because another poster, Howieu, had offered ID's conflicting with Falcon's. Unfortunately, that poster deleted his post after I posted, so now the thread looks odd. Deleting posts on the ID forum to "save face" is considered a no-no by most here.

In any event, I also agree with Falcon's House Finch ID.

Hi, I posted and deleted my post within the span of maybe at most 2 minutes, not to "save face" but to avoid confusion, as it seemed Falcon had provided the correct IDs right away. I did not know there was such a rule here. In any case I don't see how my deleting my post makes anything look odd; you did not reference my post in yours.

Just ignore him. It's not the first time he's tried to lay down the law on BirdForum..

Budding into someone else's discussion with ad hominem attacks to try to cause trouble again Fred (i.e. "fugl")?

Your post is definitely a case of the pot calling the kettle black. You have even tried to lay down rules about how others could refer to you. You wanted people to avoid using your real name, so you could continue to attack people from behind the veil of anonymity. Sorry, I don't see that as a legitimate right. Especially given that you revealed your real name years ago on this forum before you started your personal attacks that have driven posters from this forum.

In any event, I'll continue my usual practice of letting you have the last word in this thread (because you always have to have it). Others should assume Fred's posts in the remainder of this thread contain further distortions and misrepresentations.

My God, you've really lost it this time! All the crazy talk about "names", for instance, where does that come from? You haven't been drinking by any chance?
