Great day yesterday playing cricket at Stiffkey. Had a great view of a Hobby skimming the trees but at around 5pm a Goshawk displayed overhead for a few minutes before being joined by a female and settling in the woods! It was enough to stop the match for a few minutes as half our team are...

Re: Dark Breasted Barn Owl A group of us found one roosting right on the coastal path at Stiffkey in November. It was definitely a lot darker and mottled around to head. We all agreed that it was different but we were 75% sure but no further conformation came|:(| The bird had been seen coming...

Highs & Lows What a brilliant year! Did some fantastic birding in Valencia and Tunisia this year. But at home highlights have to be Lesser Grey at Holkham and Little Bittern at Titchwell. Also watching the pair of Montague's Harriers at blahblah mobbing a Red Kite was pretty spectacular...

    Norfolk birding

I live in Warham and there's been a male Hen Harrier floating around the Iron Age Camp regularly. I walk my dog there each day and he's pretty reliable. Take the hilly road opposite the three horseshoes pub and go to the top of the hill after about 2/3 mile and there's a metal gate on your right...

What a Morning!!! What an excellent morning. Fed the chickens at eight then headed off to Cley. On the way out of Stiffkey, found the Snow Goose in a field of pinks by the bait diggers path. Got rather wet at Walsey Hills and even wetter at Cley. Arrived at Dawkes Hide and got excellent views...

Had a few hours at Cley over lunchtime and it was deserted!! Only a few mallard and shoveler on the water with several teal. No raptors in sight but i did briefly catch a fem bearded tit zip over. Debated heading to burnham for the snow goose and spoonbill but decided against it. Back to...

Just finished my break before the bank holiday lunchtime onslaught at the Red Lion in Stiffkey, and sat opposite the pub by the river. Kingfisher whistled past and then had fantastic views of our resident pair of Peregrines hunting together over the field. They zoomed round for about five...

there has been a pair of honeys drifting around Stiffkey all summer, presumed to be nesting behind the fen. Can regularly be seen drifting over the wood on the hill in the middle of the village opposite the pub. Red Kite hasn't visited since last Friday though which is a shame but i've managed...
