Debatable-it wasn't behaving like Crow. There are Ravens in Knaresborough, but I don't know if they wander much.

Would anybody expect to see a Raven over Wetherby, end of Wharfedale? I thought I saw one this week and a friend got this shot of something soaring high.

    Yorkshire Birding

Went to Bempton last week, plenty of Gannets, including unfledged juveniles,Peregrine and my first Brambling of the year on the feeders.Found a Yellow Brow inland later in the week(no i won't say where),but Bempton is no good if you haven't got a head for heights. Tip-if you park at any of...

    Good Merlin sites?

I hate to say this, but the"game" shooters use them for target practise. It's time the police wildlife officers got out and hammered the gamekeepers.High time shooting becomes a licensed "sport" with draconian penalties for the wrong doers.

    Good Merlin sites?

Blackbirds I've got a new resident in the garden-99% certain she's a female blackbird, but plumage is a little different.Paler "eyebrows",redder colour bur still brown, black beak-is this one of our winter visitors,or just a variation? Also,I've just signed the beet factory petition. As a local...

    Help with locations for recording?

Traffic noise doesn't half carry doesn't it!The only places I could suggest would be Wheldrake,if you like wetlands(and it can be a bit of a muddy trek out into the best bit) or head up into the Dales.
