    Black-Chinned Hummingbird?

HI everyone! Posting this for a friend; he took this video in Guatemala this week; his ID is Black-Chinned Hummingbird and he would like confirmation, since they are not reported in Guatemala. Can Black-Chinned be confirmed and Ruby-Throated (winter visitors here) be ruled out? This video is...

    The Rubies are back!

I am! They don't generally spend the whole winter here (I'm at too high an elevation for them) but this year I've had very low numbers :-( I'm still getting two females, and one day last week I had a male.

    The Rubies are back!

I have two females visiting regularly, but it's been a disappointing season. Nowhere near the swarms (literally dozens) of rubies I had last year. But the good news is, my Green Violet-Ear has become a regular visitor, and this week a visiting male Baltimore Oriole seems to have found the...

    Ok, great. Thank you!

    Hummingbird id please

So you rule out Ruby-Throated? I assume based on too much color around the flanks in the second photo?

    The Rubies are back!

I now have one or two females on my feeders at any given time. Nothing like the swarms I had last year!

    The Rubies are back!

Two females and one juvie male today. They sure are taking their time this year!

    The Rubies are back!

Hmm, it's strange. I'm still seeing only occasional individuals. Last year at this time I had them by the dozens!

    New to hummingbirds, have questions.

I agree that it's often easier to see hummers up close than other birds; but the recommendations above are good. At least here, they try to sell you greater magnification but you want a balance between magnification and lens diameter so your field of vision and light gathering aren't too...

    The Rubies are back!

I haven't seen one for two or three days :-(

    The Rubies are back!

I'm still just seeing occasional individuals; but if you northerners are seeing fewer surely I'll soon be seeing more!

    The Rubies are back!

Great! Send them down! The past few days I've only seen an orange-Throated male; I assume the same one each time.

    The Rubies are back!

OOH can't wait until they get here! I'm still just seeing occasional individuals - had a gorgeous adult male on my feeder a few minutes ago. Hope I get a lot soon! Its fun watching them fight with the locals, all several times their size!
