    Hiya - this is definitely a Common Quaker (albeit a little washed out). Clouded Drab is a variable species, but usually shows a greater mix of brown/grey to the forewing and a less well pronounced subterminal line.

    Hi Laurie, it was mingling with the Canada Goose flock on the east bank all the time that I was there yesterday. There were also a couple of Lesser Redpolls commuting between the footpath vegetation and the feeding station in a nearly large garden (the one with the chickens).

    3 Micros from Cheshire to ID

    2. is Matilella fusca, a Pyralid. Judging on ground colour, I think that 3. is most likely to be B. affinis, although as Paul says it is a tricky genus best separated by dissection.
