    Hello again,

from Bromley, Kent UK, currently in lockdown. We do manage to get out locally, but since this a greater London suburb, the birding is a bit thin on the ground. However, we did get to Costa Rica in February, where we saw loads of birds, some mammals and some other creatures (tree frogs, poison...

    Help with ID pleae

Thanks both of you for your help. My friend will be delighted to know the species. He's not a "Birder" - just a tourist and amateur photographer

    Help with ID pleae

A friend of mine took this image whilst on holiday in the Bahamas. All my reference books are confined to UK and Europe, so the hope of tracking down the identity of this Neotropical bird is fairly remote. I imagine it a fairly common bird. Any help would be most welcome...

    Pegwell Bay

There was a Bee Eater at the Bay yesterday. Lots of birders follwing it. It was a bit flighty but did sit on various higher branches for short periods. Life tick for me. There was also a Black Kite over towards Oare seen by many but I didn't have time to go there.

    Svalbard - Spitsbergen

What I overlooked to mention was that we will be on board the S/V Noorderlicht, a 153foot two masted schooner, shore hugging and sailing from Longyearbyen, or whatever the nearby port is called. It is supposed to do a complete circumnavigation of Svalbard, landing us a various points by small...

    Svalbard - Spitsbergen

I just posted this in another thread, probably wrongly, so I'm posting it here as well. I'm off to photograph Polar Bears, hopefully, at the end of July. Is anyone able to advise on what birds I might also see. I've been told that there may be Snow Bunting around at that time and to watch out...

    Svalbard - Spitsbergen

I'm off to photograph Polar Bears, hopefully, at the end of July. Is anyone able to advise on what birds I might also see. I've been told that there may be Snow Bunting around at that time and to watch out for an Ivory Gull, but what else is it possible I might bump in to? Svalbard is, of...

    Slimbridge - hide etiquette

Had a similar experience a year or so back, when a non-birder photographer friend of ours dropped the lens cap through the viewing point in the hide. She said to my wife that there was a gap whereby she could retrieve the lenscap. My wife thought no more of it but the next thing was this...

    Lensmaster Gimbal Head

I bought myself the swing arm version for Christmas. I like it a lot and certainly would recommend it. I too have no affiliation to the Company, but have to say that I spoke to the proprietor who was very friendly and most helpful. I am told that the Giotto plate fitsbut I have Manfrotto...

    Bird Infection

Does anyone know what the problem is with this Great Tit. The image was taken at Sevenoaks, Kent and there was another bird, not quite so badly infected? Is this something that occurs naturally, or should the controlling trust that operate the centre be doing something about it? Infected...
