minox 10x42 bl - reassurance please anyone?

My partner has the 8x42 BL's and I prefer them to my Bushnell Natureview 10x42. Her's are an excellent set of bins, I'd have them over mine anyday.

    Rescued Collered Dove..

Here's an update.. Not seen her for a few days now but earlier today my other half said she had see a dove in the garden that looked like the one we saved. She said it held on of it's wings a bit funny which made me go out and have a look. Sure enough there she was looking at me. She can fly a...

    Rescued Collered Dove..

hahaha like it - that me me chuckle. Anyhow, update is she's gone - haven't seen her at all so I assume she's mastered flying at last. I still check the hedge on a night just in case. Hopefully a happy ending. |8)|

    Rescued Collered Dove..

Aye, 'tis a young'un - this years I reckon as it's only just got its collar. Because I'm the only one that's handled her she doesn't seem to mind me and if I stay still she'll come up to me but goes as soon as anyone else gets closer. She's still in the hedge but has moved higher up and a bit...

    Rescued Collered Dove..

Still not flying properly, but walking around the garden. I've been keeping her in a pet carrier in our shed overnight (with bedding, food and water) so foxes/cats can't get to her. Then out in the guinea pig run during the day so she can stretch her legs/wings and have a kip when she wants one...

    Rescued Collered Dove..

Well, she's (I'll call it a she but not sure) doing fine - not strong enough to fly yet. I got her out first thing this morning and put her on top of my growbag greenhouse in the sun to warm up and dry out a bit more. Rung our lass up from work later on in the day and she told me little dove...

Things You Would Rather Not Hear...

walk into hide and start scratching yourself and say 'Jeeez, I wish I'd gone to the clinic last night... I'm itching like buggery today.' or.. 'KOFF!..everyone in here has been KOFF! inoculated for TB haven't they? KOFF!' or.. 'UGH! my colostomy bag has leaked again, anyone got any tissues?'

    Rescued Collered Dove..

Just checked on it again - s/he's settled down fr the night by the looks of it - spread its wings slightly and is nodding off. I'll be checking on it first thing in the morning to see how it is. My other half is at home tomorrow so she can keep an eye on it. It doesn't seem to be in any distress...

    Birds @ Ben Nevis Area

Last time I went to Fort William we stayed at the Loch Lochie caravan park just down the Mallaig road. The only time we saw a Goldie was on the way home as we pulled out of the park - it was flying in the mists near to the top of Ben Nevis. Typical eh?

    Rescued Collered Dove..

Well. it's moving a bit more so that's a good sign. It's feathers are still waterlogged and it's still panting a bit. Hopefully by tonight it should have gained enough strength to move around and dried out a bit more.

    Rescued Collered Dove..

Just rescued a collered dove out of our pond, totally waterlogged but breathing - and by the looks of it exhausted. I've patted it down with kitchen paper and removed any leaves etc. that were stuck to it. I've got a pet carry box and put lots of dry hay in the bottom (plus some bird seed) and...

    Woodpecker? Fairburn Ings

Ah, so it is a red herring - our lass said it was, could've been written into a Monty Python sketch then.. lol. Nearly fooled me as I wasn't paying much attention to it, and it didn't move at all in 2 hours - was still there after a long walk. First time to Fairburn Ings, nice place, will be...
