UK, Horsell Common, Surrey bird call identification

Just had a listen, pretty sure it's not Bullfinches. I think Smiths could well be right with the clicking sounds indicating Jay, plus the strength/volume of the "hΓΌ" calls.

    First birdsong!

(I get real Choughs calling from the house from time to time). Lovely to encounter 4 different pairs of Long Tailed Tits nest...

    Woodpecker song treatment by eBird

Yes I had a similar thought. The LSW on your link 01101001, I'd prob call it one of the contact calls which is analogous to a song, ie it's used in the breeding season to advertise territory etc etc. Though iirc, one of the books says this call can be given year-round (but so can a Robins...

Questions about House Sparrows in UK

That's great! πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ¦ I think bushes/shrubs are vital to birds in built-up areas, Sparrows really need them for secure safe places to hang out in. Essential of course for nesting. Important sources of food - berries, and caterpillars (and flowers for insect food). πŸ™‚πŸ¦
