    Wader - Kent 27.07.14

I can't see pp at all but after another look I tend to agree with you in Common Redshank. At first underparts looked unpatterned but maybe it is just the image quality. It would be extremelty early date for a juv Knot, wouldn't it? An same for winter plumaged bird. Maybe some odd 2cy Knot could...

    Female Stonechat? Gairloch, Scotland

Juvenile Stonechat, don't know if its possible to tell the gender at this early stage, probably not.

    Which Gull? Dunbar, Scotland

    Juvenile Black-headed Gull

Wader ID - Northumberland - Newton + 1 odd non wader

Dunnock is probably adult as the plumage is not too fresh as expected for juveniles at this time of year.

    Wigeon

Good article indeed but actually there is way more variation in female Eurasian Wigeons. Some have very contrasting head pattern with dark mask etc.

white x pied wagtail hybrid? 21.04.2014 konstanz, southern germany

I've learnt to call these kind of individuals hybrids. Can't remember that I've ever seen a term like "white wag with features of pied" used :) Hybrid is relatively straight forward to ID if the bird is adult male. Otherwise it's a minefield.

    Coue's Arctic Redpoll, D&G, Scotland

Could be. We get similar "pale Mealy Redpolls" in Finland regularly, but who knows if they're from Iceland.

    Swift ID from UAE, 14.04.2014.

All of the features you mention are actually only of secondary importance. Head markings (lores, forehead and areas around eye), and contrast in scaling between under tail coverts and rest of the body are much more reliable. This looks typical Pallid for me too.

    Coue's Arctic Redpoll, D&G, Scotland

Rump is ok for Arctic but into other hand those flank streaks are huge and not really fitting Arctic.

    Chiffchaff or Willow Warbler, England

It is Willow Warbler. Strong facial pattern; super and loral stripe, no eye ring. Dark legged WWs are not rare.
