What defines what an Alpha binoculars is?

Well I guess I mention these companies together because they make their own stuff in their own factories. And since Meopta makes stuff for a couple of these listed companies... wouldn't they qualify? I think so. Meopta's product can be considered alpha performance. If it comes down to...

What defines what an Alpha binoculars is?

Swarovski, Leica, Zeiss, Meopta. These companies innovate. All the others imitate. Simple. Cheers

Help me select compact and mid-size

Buy your MeoStar 8x32's first. Once you get used to the view you won't want to buy a compact binocular. Seriously... its 20 oz. weight and a very compact size could almost be called a compact. But the view is full sized. And no... the Vortex is not in the same league as the Meopta MeoStar...

    comparison among the best 8 x 32

Don't place all your trust on a online or magazine review. Here's a practical opinion. http://www.holgermerlitz.de/meopta8x32.html cheers

    Best sub $1k bino?

I'd say the MeoStar 10x42HD is the best bino under 1K. http://www.outdoorlife.com/photos/gallery/gear/optics/2012/05/hunting-binoculars-best-binoculars-full-size-binoculars-review http://www.fieldandstream.com/photos/gallery/hunting/2012/08/best-best-awards-hunting-2012?photo=7 Real Fluoride...

Why 8x magnification may not be such a good compromise as it first seems

7x42 does it for me... in every situation.

    Need something similar

Try the Meopta Meostar 8x42's. As close as you'll find to those Old EL's you had but only about $800. very nice binocular. I have Meostar 7x and they are fantastic. cheers

How much blackout do you tolerate in binoculars ?

I believe blackout is caused when your eye is "inside" the specified eye relief. Screw in your eye cups and view with your eye too close and then too far... you'll see it happens only when the eye is inside the eye relief range. Also happens when you move your eye off axis (looking left or...

    Non-alpha 7x comparisons

Jay, I've had the Meopta 7's for a few years now. There is a warm color cast. I wouldn't call it yellow. That would be too harsh. The only time I can see this color cast is on very overcast days. When looking at the sky (clouds) and it's very faint. Every other aspect of this binocular...

    Non-alpha 7x comparisons

Hi Boogieshrew, I too use the MeoStar 7x42's and love them. No need for me to try anything else. I switched to a bandolier style strap (home made) and now have no problems with the weight. My issue was a neck strap put the weight up too hight for my bad back. If you use a bandolier strap...

Alpha 7x42s- how do they compare optically?

Boogieshrew, Give this bin a try. Meopta Meostar 7x42. You'll be surprised. Alpha level on all except price. Maybe $800 or so. Wide and sharp to the edge. Might give you pause to spending $1800+ http://www.eagleoptics.com/binoculars/meopta/meopta-meostar-7x42-binocular I use the 7x...

Edge sharpness and are Alphas worth it?

Yes... I am biased... but take a look at Meopta's MeoStar 8x32 or 8x42 (if you can hold the weight) great edge performance here. Better than any other except Swaro and Leica. Cheers

    Meopta Meostar B1 7x42 Opinion

Mayoayo, Didn't mean to be too hard on Thisdude when I asked him about what knowledge he had to deem his new Meopta glass deficient. You mentioned... "Your opinion doesnt need to be based in any particular knowledge" I would think think that an opinion should be formed by some kind of...
