    Lens for portrait

Right, that changes things a bit. The 24-70 is still going to be a good lens to get but fashion means something longer will be needed as well. either 70-200 f2.8 or 135mm f2, or for outdoor work if the pace of work is slow enough to live with the sedate af speed an 85mm f1.2. They'd be my...

    Lens for portrait

There is only the one version of the 24-70, before that it was a 28-70 f2.8 (nothing wrong with one of those if you can pick one up in good nick) Out of interest Cristian what style of portraiture is your friend interested in? Studio or lifestyle work, babies, kids or adults. If the focus is on...

    which lens ?

Totally agree I've had 2 24-105s and thought they were good lenses. Until I got a 24-70. Even in a studio at f8 the difference is noticeable. Wide open its in a different league

    Canon 100-400 uv filter?

Between my mate and me we've had 4 100-400s and 2 had the problem. So based on that 50% of 100-400s develop the fault :-O

    Canon EF 24-105/4L IS USM

The alternatives I was thinking of were the 17-55 f2.8 if you want wider on a crop body or the 24-70 f2.8 which is the lens I use now.

    Canon EF 24-105/4L IS USM

I've owned a couple over the years and they are a very good lens. Works well as a walkabout lens although the focal length suits a full frame sensor better than a crop at the wide end. IS comes in handy and constant f4 aperture is good. Depending what you're shooting there could be other...

Are Canon at Focus on Imaging?

I noticed on another forum that Canon are no longer on the exhibitors list and were taken off the floor plan yesterday. Anyone going mainly to see Canon's new toys may be best to check Edit: Confirmed now, Canon won't be there

    Insuring my Canon 300mm

I don't know what car you drive but with Aaduki check the small print regarding not covering estates with a soft boot cover. They will cover that scenario if you tell them but by default you're not covered

    Insuring my Canon 300mm

I'd suggest Aaduki as a company to insure it separately with but covering it with your house and contents will be miles cheaper. Just double check the t&cs to make sure its covered for theft from a car etc
