    Lurgangreen Open day There will be an open day tomorrow (Sunday) at the Oscar Merne bird hide at Lurgangreen from 11am untill 6pm. Everyone is welcome. There are still lots of birds around. I had my first summer migrants there yesterday, a flock of 8 sandwich Terns.

    Same flock of grey geese at the truck centre yesterday including the Canada Goose but the Brent flock has grown to 1,200.... 40 kittiwake sheltering in front of the hide from the storm.

    A quick visit to lurgangreen on Monday produced only 2 Greenland White fronted Geese on the marsh. The Canada Goose was also present with about 100 Greylag Geese. Still about 700 Pale bellied Brent Geese also there. No sign of any Pink footed Geese or the Whooper Swans. Nothing new for the...

    Black Redstart The bird was showing on the shore between the base of the pier and the toilet blocks. It only ranged about 100 metres along the shore but could go missing for several minutes at a time. It's a bit flighty..
