Classic Porro Comparision: Swarovski Habicht 8x30 vs. Nikon 8x30 E2?

I tend to use the Habicht more often as I don't do much in the way of birding. The Habicht is the one I take on family vacations and day trips. My Father in law tried them both and then bought a Nikon EII for himself.

Classic Porro Comparision: Swarovski Habicht 8x30 vs. Nikon 8x30 E2?

Henry is a great asset to this forum and to the binocular enthusiasts of the world. Neither of these binoculars has ever been described as perfect. They both have a charm and attraction for various reasons. I agree with Henry's tentative opinion on their cult following. There is a nostalgia...

Classic Porro Comparision: Swarovski Habicht 8x30 vs. Nikon 8x30 E2?

They are both excellent if you like small porros. For me the Nikon is the best of the two for birding or wildlife in wooded areas. The wider field of view, lighter focus action give it an edge. The Habicht is more of a general purpose high quality, traditional type of binocular. For strictly...

    Anyone with 12X50s??

This seems like a good price for the Meopta 12x50 especially if you take off the 19% German tax. Maybe they are being discontinued? http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p4735_Meopta-Meostar-B1-12x50-binocular--green.html

    Habicht warranty in the US?

I agree with Oetzi, the EII fits my face better and is easier to use straight up. The wider field is really appealing. The Habicht has it's own special charm. It takes a bit longer to get familiar with but is built to a higher quality level in terms of coating technology and luxury feel. It is...

    Nikon 8x30E11

For me the Nikon is easier to use if you are using it in woodland and adjusting the focuser more often. The wider field is also better for spotting birds. Color fringing is a non issue in my opinion for both binoculars. You don't need to own both, it is just an indulgence if you like nice...

    Nikon 8x30E11

I enjoy using the Nikon 8x30 EII as well as the Swarovski Habicht 8x30W. They do overlap considerably in there usefulness though if I had to sell one it would be a tough choice. I probably use the Habicht more as a general observation tool for travelling and spectating at events. The Nikon EII I...

    Binoculars for extensive marine use

I work at sea on ships and spend approx. 6 months a year living and working on ships. I own and use a Steiner Commander 7x30XP and can recommend it as a sturdy lightweight binocular for use in a marine environment. It is very handy for observing wildlife at sea and on the coast. If I was a...

Swarovski Habicht 8x30W review - vs. Nikon SE and Swaro SV

Thanks for the review and interesting tips to improve performance. The Habicht 8x30 is one of my favourite binoculars along with the Nikon 8x30 EII. Andy J

    Habicht 7x42 eyecups

If the 7x42 had a wider field of view I would have tried one by now I think. I do have the Habicht 8x30 and the eyecups take some getting used to. At first I held the binocular with my index fingers resting on the eyecups and used them to control the position. Now I find that I am just used to...

    New Zeiss 56mm Conquest HD's

You are welcome Brock. The 10x50 Nobilem is an excellent traditional style binocular and the 15x60 too. It would be nice to see a wide angle 8x40 Nobilem under 1000 grams (my better binocular dream!). Andy J
