    Redpolls are back

Redpolls arrived yesterday a day earlier than last year (2007-Feb 12) in our Bristol garden. Been visiting our garden and next door neighbours' garden three years in a row now. Always wondered how they find their way back to our garden. Any idea?

    Goldfinches unusual behaviour.

There are 12+ goldfinches regularly visiting our garden. Yesterday morning after their breakfast of sunflower hearts and nyger seeds they all flew to the brick wall on the side of the opposite house and was pecking at the brickwork. Some of them did the same this morning. Is that normal?

    Common or Lesser Redpoll?

We had these in the garden for about 4 weeks during February but could not decide if they were Common or Lesser Redpolls or both. Can anyone put us out of our misery?

A beautiful bird. Thanks. Seen a couple of them in kerala. I always wondered how they fly about without being caught in the branches.

Great capture. We tried to get a good photo of a firecrest on satarday for at least 15 minutes but it would'nt sit still.
