    Basic video scoping setup?

Hi there, hope you are getting some equipment together by now. I've used Sony camcorders placed on shims, with a Pentax 80mm scope, one behind the other on a plywood base. You can skimp on the camcorder (most any will work), but not on the scope if you want good results, in my opinion. Check the...

videoscoping thru a meade etx-90 scope

Hi from Canada, Rick I enjoyed your video - watched it several times and e-mailed the link to a friend. It parallels the ones I've managed to get with a couple of Sony Digital8's (20x optical zoom), and a Pentax 80mm with a 40mm eyepiece (12x). I've got an ETX90 as well and the same 40mm...

    Hello All & Camera Advice

Hi from across the border. The potential for fun with digital cameras and other optics is immense! Even a bird feeder outside your window should give lots of opportunity for pictures with a bare camera with a good zoom. It's one of those hobbies however, that can soak up endless amounts of time...

    TV-85

Rather large - 4 kg (8.5 lbs. or so). Not waterproof. Uses astronomy eyepieces (1.25 inch or 2 inch), of which there is a myriad of cheap or expensive, single power or zooms available. A 1.25 inch, 60 degree Tele Vue diagonal turns it into an angled scope. Images are reversed left to right...

    Very territorial grouse.

Hi Mable, I've seen a few episodes of the series but not that one. Will have to watch for a re-broadcast. We had a pair of half-tame Whooper swans here a few years ago that would attack anything that moved, including pedestrians, joggers, bicyclists and rafters on the river.

    Very territorial grouse.

Whilst leaving work in my van last spring, I chanced upon a grouse standing in the middle of the road, (Blue or Spruce, I'm not sure). It was exhibiting typical grouse behavior by not moving very fast as I approached it at 30 km/hr. In fact, it was not moving at all. I slowed to a crawl as I got...

Hello from the Canadian Rocky Mountains

I'm a bit of an equipment collector (understatement), and enjoy the equipment discussions immensely. Current inventory includes two digital cameras, two camcorders, assorted audio recording apparatus, six scopes, ten binoculars and too many field guides (well, one can never have TOO many field...
