    Norfolk birding

Mixture of Norfolk pronunciation of 'surely' and the movie airplane Rumack: Can you fly this plane, and land it? Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious. Rumack: I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.

Here is the Pom from Titchwell, seen at 6.30am 20th July, it buzzed the scrape flushing everything, I ran out of the hide expecting to see a BOP but there it was an adult Pom! Luckily Chris Ward was on the main path and took these snaps as it flew towards him Apart from the obvious broken...

Just out of interest, where is the area with no general access in the burnham deepdale area? Shirely all the muddy creeks are visible from the various public footpaths in the area?

It's not cynicism Pat, i don't know anybody who has seen one at the site since 2010! until today by the sounds of it. There were lots of familiar faces today so presumably the sightings were multi observed. We had a very good candidate around 10am but it was just too distant. Do you remember...

I'm not saying my diary is the oracle! Just a personal reference. I did however spend a lot of time looking for them in 2011, 12 & 13 and never saw one, or met anybody else who did. Were the 2014 sightings reported anywhere on a public forum ? I cannot find reference to them ? Presumably news...

Honey Buzzards - Anyone know anything about the Honey buzzard sighting at swanton novers today? Sounds very good, 1+ on show for an hour. Would this be the first confirmed sighting since 2010 at the site. Just checked my notebook, my last sighting was 3rd July 2010, on show for 75 minutes...

Great to watch the Pacific Golden Plover in the early evening sunshine, 8-9pm, this evening, the bird seemed to spend quite a lot of time bathing, then preening, then around 9.10pm it called 4-5 times, similar to a spotshank, "chu-it" stretched it's wings, showing off the smoky grey armpits and...

In hindsight I think we tried to put a name to the bird too quickly, i was after a norfolk tick further on and views were fleeting! Couple of Dave's best pictures now on twitter @iPteredroma

The early bird catches the worm, for once, cracking walk up blakeney point this morning, only saw 4 birds, 2 chiffchaffs, almost certainly what was a Marsh Warbler at half way house and then relocated the Paddyfield Warbler just by the hood. Had one good close view of it out in the open on the...

Thursday/Friday could be good in Norfolk if the weather patterns hold, high pressure over southern Scandinavia, east winds from a fair way off, rain forecast for Thursday afternoon/night into Friday morning from a low over northern france, could be getting a bit late 11/12 June, but might be a...

This is fantastic, finally after about a 5 year lull the norfolk thread has really hotted up ! I think laymen/women can make suggestions and observations about water levels etc. but really you would have to volunteer or work at a nature reserve to understand all of the factors at play. Unless...
