    Thinking I saw a male and female gargany on a pond on Orkney mainland last friday. Can anyone confirm? Quite unusual apparently. Returned on Saturday and took the female with duckling shots. Are these garganey too or some more common? TomC

    Coastal water bird - Northumberland, UK

    Can anyone identify this water bird from these two rather poor photographs? Taken on a coastal estuary just south of Beadnell, Northumberland. Taken today, dull wintery showers My initial thought was a grebe - one of the smaller ones. Any thoughts? TomC

    Saw this from Rifugio Champillon, above Aosta, Italy earlier this week. Was told by a local farmer this was a 'gxxxxx?? falcon' - didn't quite understand what he was saying. Can anyone id? Thanks TomC

    Wader id Scotland

    Please can someone help id the birds in the photo. They were flying today over the Forth Estuary, Edinburgh, Scotland in a flock of about 10 to 15. I noticed the tan coloured chest of one of the birds. Dull, cloudy evening. Thanks Tom
