    Yorkshire Birding

Cuckoo heard on Barden Moor this afternoon, seen earlier by a local birder. Good views of a pair of Ring Ouzels. Also a solitary Pink foot amongst the Greylags and very strangely a Bar-Headed Goose which was presumably an escapee.

Wood Warbler finally seen in Strid Wood. I think that there are a pair, I had excellent views of the male this morning as did others. I understand that they have been around for about a week.:t:

Redstarts have been quite reliable in the area that Keith mentioned and plenty of Pied Flys in the next section. We haven't heard any Wood Warblers yet this year nor have we seen any Spotted Flys. Cuckoo(s) about and pretty reliable on Barden Moor at the moment and there are at least two pairs...

Help With ID Please Doe anyone have any thoughts on what this may be? It was seen in the Bay Brambles at Flamborough Head last Thursday 20/10/16 at about 3:30 pm. Thanks Graeme

Phil, see the various recent posts on here regarding Wood Warbler at Bolton Abbey. Not east I know but they seem fairly reliable this year. Graeme

    Yorkshire Birding

Cuckoo, stonechat, reed bunting and a minimum of three Ring Ouzel (possibly five depending on whether we saw two of the birds twice) on Barden Moor this morning.

    Yorkshire Birding

We only managed a quick couple of hours so we didn't manage a full circuit, but no sign in that time. Plenty of other stuff about though and we saw at least 4 redstarts including one very close on the Storriths road and about the same number of pied fly's.

Young Siskins Male and an immature bird on the feeders yesterday. Don't recall seeing one before in the summer.

Thanks Keith. I'll come back that way next time I'm down there.

    Yorkshire Birding

Start at Barden Bridge (if you get there reasonably early parking is free) walk towards the Cavendish on the left bank. Two weeks ago there were at least six Redstarts in the open area between the aquaduct and the beginning of the wood. As soon as you get into the wood start looking for nest...

There last week and the hide is open.

    Yorkshire Birding

Visited Staveley this morning and saw the Wheatear on a grassy bank close to the new hide. This is not normal Wheatear terrain and I suspect that the bird was in transit. It is a very large bird and it may be a Greenland varient. Buff on the breast does not extend down onto the belly which does...

    Yorkshire Birding

Keith I think that he is based at Hebden not Hebden Bridge so your excellent rec (I've printed it out myself!) might be a bit far. I have always found Scar House to be reliable and this is an easy trip from Hebden. I might be a bit early for Ring Ouzel but there may be other stuff around and it...
