Identification

64-74 cm

  • Mostly black
  • White crest
  • Large white wing-covert patch
  • White crown and nape
  • Black forehead
  • White edging on neck and upper breast feathers
  • Broad bluish-white eye-ring
  • Large red throat wattle with blue base
  • Pale blue bill with black tip
  • Reddish legs and feet.

Distribution

South America: Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Atlantic rain forest near water courses.

Behaviour

The diet includes flowers and fruits and invertebrates.
