Distribution

Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela.

Taxonomy

This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 2 subspecies.

Plain-bellied Emerald is sometimes placed in genus Agyrtria.

Subspecies

  • C. l. leucogaster:
  • C. l. bahiae
  • Eastern Brazil (Pernambuco to Bahia)

Habitat

Subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical mangrove forests, and heavily degraded former forest.
