Distribution
South America: found from western Bolivia to northern Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and south-western Brazil.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Has been considered conspecific with Cinereous Warbling-Finch in the past.
This species was in the past placed in genus Poospiza.
Habitat
Dry chaco forest, thorny and shrubby woodland, savannas and reed beds.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of seeds, fruit and flowers; with the addition of arthropods and insects, particularly during the breeding season.
