Distribution
South America: found in extreme southern Brazil, Uruguay and northern Argentina.

This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Wetlands, grassland and marshes.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes invertebrates and seeds.
Breeding
The female builds the nest in marshy vegetation. The clutch consists of 4-5 eggs.
