Identification

48cm
Male: Darker then Grey Peacock-Pheasant with darker ocilli (Dark Blue and Green, though occasionally appears Purple). Deep Red facial skin. More distinct pale bars, no crest and white restricted to upper throat. 58cm

Female: As Female Grey Peacock-Pheasant, but Darker and Plainer, with no scales above and red facial skin.

Distribution

Endemic to South Indochina, being Found in South Annam, North Cochinchina and extreme East Cambodia. Moderately common in many large protected areas.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Evergreen forest and bamboo.

Behaviour

Breeding

Male displays by fanning tail and wings. Breeds all year round, with females breeding when their previous clutch matures. Lays 2 eggs
