Identification
Length 11 cm
Brown above, with a rufous forecrown and with white edges to wing feathers.
Similar to the prinias with a long, thin tail.
Distribution
Africa
Western Africa: Mauritania, Senegambia, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon
Eastern Africa: Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania
Taxonomy
Some authorities have placed this species in the genus Apalis or the genus Spiloptila.

Habitat
Dry savanna.
Behaviour
The long tail is flicked from side to side or in a circular motion.
