- Whitish supercilia, which are very broad and almost meet at forehead
- Blackish loral region
Distribution
South America: found in Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina

- S. s. scutata:
- Eastern and central Brazil
- S. s. whitii:
- S. s. teretiala:
- Eastern Brazil (Serra dos Carajás in southern Pará)
Habitat
Deciduous forests and forest edges, up to a height around 1700m.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of arthropods and caterpillars.
