Atlapetes citrinellus

Identification

17 cm (6¾ in)

  • Yellow and black striped head
  • Olive-green upperparts
  • Blackish wings and tail
  • Yellow underparts

Distribution

South America: found only in the Andes of north-western Argentina.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

A very restricted area of alder woodland and borders of Yungas forest.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists mostly of invertebrates such as beetles and ants, They generally forage on or near the ground.

Breeding

Their nest is built in a small bush. The clutch consists of 2-3 eggs.
