- Black crown with bluish sheen
- Grey upperparts
Distribution
Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela.

There are 5 subspecies:
- P. a. albogriseus:
- P. a. coronatus:
- P. a. guayaquilensis:
- Western Ecuador (Guayaquil basin) and Isla Puná
- P. a. ornatus:
- Costa Rica to western Panama (Chiriquí and Veraguas)
- P. a. salvini:
