Identification

18-21cm. Black belly, yellow-orange iris; immature - dark brown, dark grey iris.

Distribution

Kenya, Mozambique, Somalia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

Taxonomy

There are 2 subspecies

  • L c corruscus
  • L c vaughani

Habitat

Evergreen and coastal forests.

Behaviour

The diet includes fruits and flowers.

They nest in old barbet or woodpecker holes.
