Identification

Distribution

Asia and Australasia
South-east Asia: Indonesia, Greater Sundas, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Lesser Sundas, Timor, Moluccas
Australasia: Papua New Guinea, Northern Territory, Queensland, Western Australia

Taxonomy

Subspecies[1]

There are 3 subspecies:

  • M. r. ruficollis:
  • M. r. fulviventris:
  • Tanimbar Islands (Larat, Yamdena and Selaru)
  • M. r. mimikae:

Subspecies fulviventris is sometimes considered a separate species Tanimbar Flycatcher[2].

Habitat

Moist lowland forests, mangroves and montanes.
