Description
Tapaculos share several traits: "the presence of operculate nostrils, a tracheophone syrinx, a somewhat curved humerus, and a four-notched sternum". They generally are ground-living birds with strong legs and feet, but Psilorhamphus differs in having "long, slender bill, a long tail, and relatively weak feet"[1].
Taxonomy
Rhinocryptidae is a family in the Order Passeriformes. The genus Melanopareia was in the past included in this family but is now considered to belong in its own family Melanopareiidae
