Distribution
Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt.
In Morocco, this species remains very localised but can be found in the east of the Middle-Atlas mountainous chains1.

Subspecies
Two subspecies are recognised2:
- C. d. duponti:
- Iberian Peninsula, Morocco, northern Algeria and north-western Tunisia
- C. d. margaritae:
Habitat
Steppes with scrubland.
Behaviour
Breeding
It is a ground nester; the clutch consists of 3-4 eggs.
Diet
The diet includes insects and seeds.
Vocalisation
The song is mostly given at night and has a certain "electronic" quality.
