Identification
16–18 cm (6¼-7 in)
Male
- Black overall plumage
- Large white dorsal patch (which looks like that photo of a drop of milk landing and spreading outwards)
- Red eye
Distribution
Endemic to a very small area of north-east Brazil; it is known only from a few highly fragmented areas in Bahia and Sergipe.
Classified as Endangered by Birdlife International.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Understorey of lowland evergreen forest, forest edges and secondary woodland.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists almost entirely of insects, such as cockroaches, grasshoppers, winged ants, spiders and centipedes.
