Distribution

Philippines: present on Mindenao and Samar

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

It was formerly placed in its own monotypic genus Mimizuku and König et al in Owls of the World still keeps it there. However, Clements and IOC place it in Otus.

Montane forest.
