Identification

Pink and white plumage

Distribution

Africa, Pakistan and northwest India. Also recorded in many European countries as vagrants such as Spain and Turkey.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Formerly placed in genus Phoenicopterus.

A single chalky white egg is laid on mounds they build of mud.
