Polemaetus bellicosus

Location: Kruger National Park, South Africa

Identification

Length 78-83 cm, mass 3-6 kg; a huge eagle.
Juvenile has head and breast pale, but white feathering on legs and unbarred flight feathers separate this from juvenile Crowned Eagle.

Distribution

Sub-Saharan Africa.

Taxonomy

Monotypic.

Habitat

Savanna, open woodland and forest edge.
