15 cm. A small flycatcher with a crest.

- Dark greyish-brown upperparts, darker and bluer on crown, paler and duller on lores
- Whitish chin and throat
- Rufous breast merging into whitish belly and undertail-coverts
- Blue-grey bill and legs

- Greyer crown
- Paler on forehead and lores
- Paler rufous on breast
Immature similar to female.
Distribution
Endemic to Chuuk (Truk) in the eastern Caroline Islands, Federated States of Micronesia.
A restricted-range species with a small population as there are only small remaints of forest left.

Guam Flycatcher, Palau Flycatcher and Pohnpei Flycatcher have been split from this species.
