Formerly considered conspecific with Cachar Bulbul. Also the former subspecies myitkyinensis is now included in Grey-eyed Bulbul, lekhakuni and cinnamomeoventris were transferred here from that species.
There are 3 subspecies:
Moist broad-leaf evergreen and semi-evergreen forests and tall secondary growth.
Their main diet consists of berries and occasionally insects too. Usually seen in pairs or small parties.
