Horornis annae

Identification

14-15 cm. A large bush-warbler with a long, tapering bill.

  • Greyish-olive crown and upperparts (including wings and tail)
  • Olive-yellow underparts, brightest on chin

Sexes similar, males are slightly larger than females.
Juveniles are similar to adults but have browner back and rump and forehead and crown lighter or tinged yellowish.

Similar species

Larger than Shade Warbler and Fiji Bush Warbler. Also lacks rufous or cinnamon in plumage. Differs from Japanese Bush Warbler (subspecies cantans) by shorter tail, larger bill and olive-yellowish (not greyish) supercilium and underparts.

Distribution
