Identification

The male has a red head, dull pink legs, red thighs, square tail and brown iris. The female is olive above and slightly paler below with a darker brown iris.

Distribution

Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.[1]

Gill and Donsker place it in the genus Dixiphia, Clements in the genus Ceratopipra.

Habitat

Moist lowland forests.
