Identification
12 cm. The only White-eye on Rennell.
- Olive-green upperparts (with little or no yellow above lores and on forehead)
- Greenish dusky lores
- Bluish or grey bare skin around eye creating weak eyering
- Yellowish-green underparts, brightest on throat
Sexes similar, juveniles undescribed.
Distribution
Endemic to Rennell in southeast Solomon Islands.
Common and widespread in its small range.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
Sometimes considered conspecific with Louisiade White-eye. Forms a superspecies with the latter and with Banded White-eye, Ganongga White-eye, Splendid White-eye, Solomons White-eye and possibly Kolombangara White-eye.
Habitat
Moist lowland forests, also in regrowth and scrub.

Feeds on insects, small seeds and a variety of small fruits.
Forages quietly in pairs or small flocks, often close to mixed-species flocks. Searches for prey in lower and middle storeys, creeping along trunks and branches, often similar to a nuthatch.
