Identification
15cm. A small babbler.
- Brown above
- Whitish to buff below
- Rusty wings
- Long tail
- Short bill with decurved upper mandible
Distribution
Found in a small area in south China from northern Sichuan south to nortwest Yunnan.
Fairly common in its range.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Sometimes placed in the genus Chrysomma.
Habitat
Grass, thickets near streams, scrubby hillsides. Found at 1500m to 3300m, occasionally higher.
Behaviour
Diet
Feeds on invertebrates. Forages in dense undergrowth 2-3m above the ground. Sits up in the open.
Breeding
Breeding season from June to July. The nest is a cup made of leaves, twigs and bark. It's placed in a small tree near the ground. Lays 3 eggs.
