Identification
Patagonian Forest Earthcreeper differs in having a shorter black bill, being overall smaller and darker, and it has a distinctive tail pattern.
Distribution
Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay.
Taxonomy
Three subspecies are recognized: peruana, hypoleuca, and dumetaria.
The Patagonian Forest Earthcreeper, Upucerthia saturatior was split from this taxon1.
Habitat
Dry, high altitude shrubland and grassland.
