Identification
Dull brown plumage.
Distribution
Southeast Asia: found in Indochina, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Malay Peninsula and Sumatra.
Taxonomy
Formerly considered conspecific with Brown Barbet.
Subspecies[1]
There are 2 subspecies:
- C. f. detersus :
- C. f. hayii:
Subspecies detersus is not recognised by all authorities and included then in hayii.[2]
Habitat
Lowland to sub-montane forest.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet includes fruit.
Breeding
They nest in colonies.
